DEFPTH

DEFPTH is a DOS batch file helps you to move WordStar from one disk drive to another

You can copy your WordStar installation from one disk to another, but you must keep the root path the same: i.e., if the original was in C:\WS7 then the copied version must also be in C:\WS7 - on the new disk.

WordStar stores it's file paths internally, so if you move it you need to reset all the paths. DEFPTH helps you to change the drive letter if you must change the installed drive: make a backup first!.

As an example, if you need to move WordStar from C:\WS7 to D:\WS7 copy the files to the new locations, and then copy DEFPTH.BAT into D:\WS7 and run it as follows:

D:\WS7> DEFPTH d

Note: There is no colon after the new drive letter.

DEFPTH only changes the drive letter in the Search Paths section of WordStar, it does not change the directory (folder) it's installed in.

You can manually change the paths by running WSCHANGE, then following the menu option sequence: C, D, A, and then each of the 16 possible path letters in turn.

EXT2WS

This utility converts a text file containing ASCII Extended Characters to one containing WordStar Extended Characters.
