| WordStar for Windows Y2K Problems |
| Known Problems |
WordStar for Windows 2.0 has the following two known Y2K problems:
WordStar for Windows 1.0, 1.1, and 1.5 didn't support macros so the template macro doesn't apply and there wasn't a date merge variable either, so these Y2K problems only apply to WordStar for Windows 2.0. The Y2K problem also applies to Xoom WordPro 1.0. |

| That all depends on whether or not you use these features. |
| If you use the Calander Template then the template macro problem will affect you. I believe this is the only template supplied that uses the template macro's date calculations. |

| If you use mailmerge with date variables, or two digit year numbers, then the date merge problem will affect you. WordStar for Windows will report the century as being 19xx and two digit years lower than 10 will not have the leading zero. |

| A patch for WSWIN.DLL that overcomes most of the Y2K problems is described here. |
| Replacement Template Macro |
| The template macro is supplied with WordStar for Windows and provides functions for creating calendars, etc. The date routines in the original macro are incorrect. This version corrects those errors. For full details of the corrected Template macro for WordStar for Windows see FAQ Q1027, which also provides the download link. |
| Insert Date Variable Macros |
| The Insert > System variable... > Date... menu item in WordStar for Windows is hard coded for the 1900s. There is a Y2K patch to one of the WordStar for Windows system files that corrects many of the issues, but others still remain. There are two possible work-around macros that can be used as long as the date is inserted as fixed text. These are described in FAQ Q1033 |
