WordStar Command Emulator

| This page illustrates the customisations to Word's pull-down menu system. Only menus and sub-menus that have been customised are shown. This page is necessarily graphic intensive and so may take a little while to fully load - the total graphics size is around 85Kb. |
Menu Bar

| The main changes here are that the Format menu is replaced by Style and Layout menus, and that the Tools menu becomes Utilities. |
File Menu
 |
The File menu gains WordStar command shortcuts A new Change Drive / Directory item New icons for some menu items |
Edit Menu
|
|
The Edit menu is extensively changed and has several new sub-menus added. It gains WordStar's Block marking commands. Copy and Cut are changed to WordStar's more comprehensive versions. Block Move is added. Find, Replace, and GoTo options are all brought onto the menu from various dialog boxes. These are supplimented by WordStar's additional Block and Marker (Bookmark) commands. |

View Menu

The View menu gets a Print Preview option A new Block Highlighting item A new set of WordStar window control items (duplicated on the Window menu) New icons for some menu items Removal of the Toolbars item |
Insert Menu
 |
The Insert menu introduces several small changes to the Break items (mainly brought onto the menu from dialog boxes) A new Accented Characters item WordStar command shortcuts have been added New icons for some menu items |
Style Menu (New)
|
The new Style menu adds several items from Word's Format menu, which has been removed. These items are, in the main, brought onto the main menu from various dialog boxes thus allowing quicker access. Several completely new items have been added. Several new icons are provided. The sub-menus that aren't shown are unchanged. |

Layout Menu (New)
|
The new Layout menu takes some of the items from the removed Format menu (the others are covered on the new Style menu). Other items come from dialogs. There are also additional icons provided. |

Utilities Menu (was Tools)
|
The new Utilities menu replaces Word's Tools menu. This menu adds WordStar shortcut commands. Spelling and Grammar options are brought onto the menu from a sub-menu. A Calculator option is added, as is a Sort command. |

Table Menu
| This is unchanged except for the addition of the WordStar shortcut command for sorting. |
Window Menu
 |
The Window menu has extra WordStar Open / Switch, and Close Split commands added. |
Help Menu
|
The Help menu gains extra WordStar help sub-menu items, and a Help About option for the WordStar Add-In. These items all open dialog boxes and are shown below. The four Help Screens are: |
